  • Weld Material Selection: 316L and 2205 duplex steels offer superior corrosion resistance at welds compared to regular 304/304L steels in chloride-rich environments.
  • Passivation After Welding: Post-weld passivation (using nitric acid solutions) helps remove free iron on the weld zone, preventing crevice corrosion.
  • Weld Metal Strength: The strength of the weld area can be optimized using submerged arc welding (SAW) with low hydrogen electrodes to ensure both corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.
