Advanced Welding Techniques for High-Pressure Welded Steel Pipes

Welded steel pipes used in high-pressure applications (such as oil and gas pipelines or pressure vessels) require highly precise welding methods to ensure structural integrity.

  • Electroslag Welding (ESW): This technique is used for thick-walled pipes, offering high penetration and minimal distortion. Ideal for high-strength carbon steels used in subsea pipelines.
  • Spiral Submerged Arc Welding (SSAW): Applied to large-diameter welded pipes, SSAW provides excellent strength and resistance to external pressure, making it suitable for deepwater drilling applications.
  • Weld Seam Inspection: Non-destructive testing (NDT), such as ultrasonic testing (UT) and X-ray inspections, is critical to detect internal defects in welded seams.
